mom's here, halloween, stuff

Gosh i've been a blogger slacker!! My mom arrived October 25th and we've been having a blast with her here. We've been eating a little too well with her here too...homemade cinnamon rolls, breads, dinners...yum yum. I won't blame her on my slacking though I will blame the fact that our computer CRASHED!! luckily we have the laptop but I don't use it as much as I did the computer...it's probably a good thing that it crashed!Here's grandma being a soccer spectator. The kids were happy she got to see their last few soccer games. Soccer season is officially over and I think I will retire as a soccer coach for good! ha ha. It was actually a lot of fun but I have a new apprecition for volunteer coaches of my kids sporting teams!

we went trick or treating around our culdesac and then went into town to "candy land" a church in Kona does a HUGE and Free halloween every year. Then we went to the high school football game!! It was a blast. one of my seminary students was playing and it was their last home game so we decided to check it out. I think it had been 15 years since I had gone to a high school football game and I can't say that highschool has changed much! Last saturday mom and the kids and I played tourists since olivia's soccer game was in honokaa which is on the other side of the island. we decided to spend the day on that side. we went to Waipio valley, lunch buffet at pizza hut (the kids favorite thing to do in Hilo) hit the Mall (we don't have one on our side) the ZOO, the macadamia nut farm for a tour and even got to see the Lava flow!! Mom was a trooper and hiked the 2 miles (round trip) over uneven lava rock out to the view point. It's pretty amazing!! we then had dinner at IHOP and enjoyed some live music...that's a first at any IHOP I've been to. they had 3 local guys singing hawaiian music. They were great!! We got home at 11:30pm...it was a long fun filled day!!
