family night

trying to get back in the swing of things of blogging about daily life. Tonight was family nights so I thought I'd put it down in history of how a typical blackburn family home evening goes in our house. we started out in the living room with a song and a prayer than Isaac gave a great lesson and shared his testimony (gosh he's growing up...I signed his middle school registration today..yikes) after lesson we did "our names" this is something Matt's family did at family night and tradition we have continued. Each week we all take a turn standing up in front of the family and tell them our names, when our birthday is, how old we are and what we want to be when we grow up (as if we don't all know the info) the entertaining part is always what we want to be...it changes often! Olivia went first and she wants to be a "tooth fairy" Dawson wants to be a firefighter, truck driver, pilot etc, Adam wants to be a famous soccer player and play in the Fifa world cup (is that what its called?) Isaac also wants to be a famous soccer player and then a vet and he had a big long list until he's 93. I want to be a cheerleader for all my kids and husband and Matt of course wants to be a pilot. Next was Activity and Dawson was in charge and he chose a talent show. The best part of it was he decided the talent show was going to be on our front lawn. yup for all the world to see. It was rather entertaining. He went first and he did a backward summersault and also did some pretend fighting with Isaac (punch at and fall to the ground type stuff) Adam did a magic trick, Olivia did a handstand and showed us a new hula move. For my talent Matt helped me with some pretend fighting like the kids (we decided to do this BEFORE we knew it would be on the front lawn but hey..why not)? Matt juggled 3 large balls, Isaac had his light sabor and Adam threw rocks at him while he dodged them and hit them with the light sabor...yes we are a talented family indeed!! It seems like there were a few more talents shared but I can't remember the details. Matt was in charge of treat and he brought icecream outside to us to all enjoy on the front porch. Isaac and I took turns mowing the front lawn because after spending some time out front I notice how badly it needed it. It was pretty much a perfect evening! I love my little family!

That is awesome! We've never had a talent show for FHE, but now I want to. It sounds like a riot. We just won't have ours on the front lawn. :)

You have a very beautiful family. You look awesome as well. I love the talent show idea for family home evening. We will have to do that it would be interesting to see what my boys come up with. Love, Kristen (bubbles)
