Adam, My Adam! My sweet, sensitive, fun, ambitious, smart, silly Boy! Adam has always been a very happy boy. When he was a baby Great Grandpa Dawson called him "smilie" because he constantly had a big grin or giggle. He loves to make everyone around him happy too. He is a sensitive boy and always thinks of others. If someone is missing and we have a treat he is the one to be sure and save them part of it. He also loves to make others around him laugh.
Adam is an ambitious boy and very sharp. He's a hands on learner and always taking everything around him in. He is easily distracted and get's into a deep thinking zone. I discovered from a young age that when I was calling him and he wasn't coming it wasn't that he was being disobedient but that he really didn't hear me even if I was a few feet from him... because he was in his "zone" His mind is constantly turning in it's own way. Adam can figure out a math problem in his head often before I even realize it's a math problem. He has loved "vocabulary" words in 2nd grade. Often throughout the day as the family is talking you will hear him out of the blue say "vocabulary word"!! he hears everyone that we use in normal conversations! Even if it was a vocabulary word from 5 months ago!
Adam looking sharp in his glasses! He has always loved "space" and wants to be an astronaut. He loves Saturn and plans to live in Space. I hope by then that Space travel will be as easy as they predit, so I can visit my Boy! With his math brain I know he can do it if he really wants to.
Adam has also always been interested in reptiles. He would love a pet lizard but I've told him he'd have to wait 'til he has his own house. I don't know what is wrong with me... I use to love holding frogs, snakes, and lizards but now I'm a big chicken. He use to bring in small frogs (we're talking tiny) to show me and I would shriek and get after him to get them out of the house! Maybe someday I'll lighten up so Adam can have a lizard or frog or something fun.
I love this picture. It was taken in Adam's bedroom and really shows all the things he loves..The space bookshelf he designed and painted, some of his "reptiles" His basketball shirt and Soccer trophy and his very neat desk. He is an organized boy.
His new love is Basketball. In Boise he had played on a couple soccer teams and loved that and knew he was a "soccer star" but he was often distracted during a game (sitting down mid field to think, staring off into space because he heard something). I don't think it was a fast enough pace for him. When he's playing basketball he is "in the game" 100%. He is always the first kid down to each end of the court. He has no fear and goes after every ball. When he first started he couldn't quite get that ball up to the hoop...that's a long ways up... But after just a few months of lots of practice and hard work... he scores in almost every game! There is no turning him back. He LOVES loves LOVES Basketball.
Adam getting ready to start a game. Bring it ON!Adam is well liked by his peers. I get to volunteer in his class each Monday and everyone loves Adam. In first grade he was a self admitted "girl chaser". Now that he's older he's not so quick to admit it :o) His favorite thing at school is Lunch and Recess. He could eat Macaroni and Cheese all day every day...that and a big bowl of Fresh Fruit...any kind but especially pineapple.
Adam with his buddy Mason. If I could sum Adam up in one word... it would be his favorite color..."Orange"...because it's bright and cheery, fun ...has a lot of depth and it's warm! I love my Adam!! He still loves to cuddle up with Mom or Dad and is great about giving hugs. He's our tenderhearted very "Cool" Kid.
Now THAT is one Cool Kid!
