Grandma's Here!

Wow what a surprise for the kids! They were so shocked they were speechless. We left cubscouts wednesday evening and I told them we needed to run to the airport to give a friend a ride to Waikoloa. I told them it was sister "beedee" (B.D. burnadene dawson) So they were trying to figure out who she was and I didn't give any indication that it could be someone they knew really really well. Matt took this picture the minute I said "there's my friend" and they looked up. I think Adam is the only one who recognized her. It took a few minutes for it all to sink in that Grandma was really in Hawaii! Once they realized it was for real they kept saying " I just can't believe it" "I'm still in Shock". It was an awesome surprise!

In all the excitement at the airport we forgot to get a picture of her (with her lei's) and the kids. We took this the next morning. It was a windy morning. We had a day off from school the first day she was here so that was super nice. She had come down with a cold right before coming but that didn't stop us from dragging her all over the place.
She has been busy getting her paperwork/fingerprints/tb test in order so she can substitute from now on when she comes. It will take a month or two for it to all be complete. But hopefully we'll get to see lots of her since she can come and work while she's here. We are all at the school so she might as well be there with us. Hawaii pays substitute teachers $170/day (if certified) and $150/day if you have a bachelors but aren't certified. Anyone else want to come and Sub??

We could totally pay for a trip to hawaii if I subbed 2 weeks and if we didn't have to pay for food and room. We are coming!!!
