Dawson is FIVE!

Yesterday was Dawson's fifth birthday! He was so excited to bring treats to school. I loved the little birthday tradition his teacher does. The birthday child gets to build their own 2 layer birthday cake on a flannel board. They have different flavors of cake and frosting to choose from.
Dawson chose Strawberry with chocolate frosting for the bottom layer and vanilla with strawberry frosting for the top layer. You can see that Dawson was pretty proud of his creation. Next, since the earth has gone around the sun 5 times since he was born, Mrs. Groff lays out the months of the year in a big cirle (with the kids shouting the names of the months) and then starting at September (when Dawson was born) Dawson holds the earth and walks around the "sun" and each time he gets back to September the kids give one clap. He does this five times. Mrs. Groff is an amazing teacher and this is my favorite kindergarten birthday I have seen any of the kids teachers do.Last, Dawson handed out his brownies with bugs, grasshoppers, frogs & fish' on top.
He was a happy boy! After school we took the neighbor kids with us to the pool and we had fun in the sun. Then we came home and had dinner (subway) and cake and ice cream with the neighbors and some other friends. Happy Birthday Dawson! We love you!

NO WAY!! Your baby is five!!?? Can you believe it? He looks a lot older. I am in shock a little bit. You have only been gone a few months but his little face looks so grown up now. Wowee! Cool teacher, too. Tell him Happy Birthday from the Radfords!

His teacher sounds really cool. I like how she makes the kids walk around the sun. What a great way to teach what a year is. I want one of those buggy brownies. I miss you!
