The beaches have been closed for over a week because of Tiger Sharks lurking in the waters. It's unusual for our area to have Tiger Sharks. We tried to go to the beach last weekend thinking the beaches were open again but when we arrived at beach after beach they were closed. We finally got to Spencers Beach and the beach was open but the signs said to keep out of the water (That was when it was just one shark they were talking about but this week it turns out they spotted 15 or so Tiger Sharks hanging out). Definitely has freaked me out a bit. I had finally convinced myself to not think about sharks and the odds of them being out there were so small. Isaac is funny he said that they are here because they are on "his team...the animal team" and that "they are trying to communicate with him because there is a criminal on our island they want him to get". What a goof ball. Anyway here's some photos we took the night we had to just hang out on the beach.
Isaac cracks me up! That boy has an amazing imagination. So, have you seen one of the sharks in real life? I still remember being afraid to go to the bathroom after I saw "Jaws" because I was afraid a shark would come up through the toilet and bite my bum. I was a kid. Although, I must admit that even as a grown up, reports of real live sharks in the water would keep me off the beach for a while.
I heard about that the other day and I immediately thought of you! What's the point of being in Hawaii if you can't go to the beach! :) How do they keep people from going in the water? Just have tons of guards standing watch? or just trust people to not go in? I hope the sharks go away soon!
