Just killin time in Kona

Matt works the 2:30-11:00 shift on the weekends driving the car rental shuttle at the airport. The Airport is about 30 miles away and is just a few miles from Kona (Costco, walmart etc). Since we just have the van here when he goes to work we are carless. So instead of sitting home carless on a Saturday evening, the last 2 weeks the kids and I have taken him to work and then hung out in Kona for his 8 hour shift. Here's how it went down yesterday. We dropped off Matt, leisurely strolled around Costco enjoying each tasting table, stocked up on the weeks groceries (brought a cooler), A short stint at the park, A refreshing swim at the Kona pool...unfortunately the diving board and deep end were closed but we still had a blast, checked out a new beach with some awesome waves (tsunami's according to the kids), took a little drive up a new road in the rain, hung out at walmart...taking our time in the toy department and anywhere else the kids wanted to stop (I was in totally wet pants thanks to a "tsunami"that hit me while I was watching the kids... of course I had brought dry clothes for the kids after the beach but I had already changed out of my swimming suit and wasn't planning on getting wet), walked in to burger king but walked out after we saw that wopper jrs are now 2$, instead went to Kmart where they have a little ceasers and discovered that kids meals are only 2.99 and you get a huge piece of pizza, 4 bread sticks, a cookie and a slushie (who knew melon slushies were so tasty!)...much better than spending 2$ on a wopper jr (as good as they may be), walked around kmart for an hour until they closed at 10pm, opened the jump rope we bought and the kids each took a turn jumping rope in the kmart parking lot, hopped in the car and the kids were OUT COLD within 10 minutes, I took a drive by the temple and then headed to the airport and sat a read for 20 minutes until Matt got off. It was so fun to just hang out with my kids and do whatever we pleased, no rushing since we needed to take as much time as possible. Normally when we are in town it's pretty rushed to get all the stops in before we head home...
Next week we'll bring pillows and toothbrushes but that is all we will change!

(I buzzed dawson's hair yesterday morning and am loving it)

LOOK HOW BROWN YOUR CUTE KIDS ARE!!! I miss that cute tan skin that we all had when we were in Arizona. They look adorable! I love days like that, too, when you can just hang out. We do a lot of that with our family as we only have one car. It kind of forces us to be together and I like it. I love those unhurried days!

I love Dawson's hair! Good job.

Some days when Nate has to take pictures far away and I'm tired of being in the house with the kids, we do the same thing (on a smaller scale). The kids love hanging out at Walmart or playing at McDonalds playland for an hour and it is good for me to have a change of scenery.
